Idealist Cafewas first conceived back in 2006, but was relauched several years ago. The vision is much the same as it's always been, but the focus is less singular and now covers a variety of lifestyle topics, broadly including adventure, health, travel, sustainability, personal development, and life in general. As the name implies, the spirit here is much the same as it would be were you sitting in a cafe with friends, discussing life over a cup of coffee or tea.
Russ, the guy behind Idealist Cafe, is an introvert by nature who has always been interested in pursing life, and with an affinity for technology and the web found that starting this website was a natural outlet. Now into his 3rd decade, he has decided to step outside the box and to redefine the rules by which he lives and others expect him to live. For the time being though, he is laying low in San Diego with his fiancee (newly engaged!), cat and two dogs. While still working for a small tech company and maintaining ties to the corporate world, he and his fiancee have big plans for the future once they are married.
Russ' goal with this website, as in life, is to be happy, healthy, and to enjoy the journey of life. Though managing to keep busy, he still enjoys writing here about things that motivate and inspire him, and things that that he's experimenting with (like veganism, barefoot running, and not using shampoo).
The Idealist Cafe Mission
To explore life and share information and ideas on a variety of lifestyle topics, broadly including adventure, health, travel, sustainability, personal development, and life in general, with detailed articles about things that are currently motivating or inspiring us.
Why?
Life can get complicated and crazy, and many of us are stuck working too much, or wishing we could escape the 9 to 5 and live life at a slower (or faster) pace. Sometimes motivation and inspiration are hard to hold on to, so here at Idealist Cafe we share what we're reading, learning, doing, and experiencing. As noted above, you'll find articles on varied topics, with writings in more detail about things that are currently inspiring and motivating us.Hopefully in all of this noise, there is something for you to take away from this, and of course in the spirit of cafe conversation over tea or coffee, you're welcome to join!
