Update: I no longer endorse The Garden Diet as a raw food program, as I believe they are not running a legitimate business and are funding their lives by taking affiliate sales and not paying their commissions. I have been directing sales to them via their e-junkie affiliate program for several years, and to date I have several unpaid commissions going back nearly a year. I have followed all the proper channels to contact Jinjee, and though many requests went unanswered, I was able to get ahold of her on several occassions asking what is going on. I have FOUR emails from her over the course of 8 months explaining why they can not pay, but claiming they will pay soon, which of course has not happened. I understand maybe a month of two delay, however at this point I believe that they have no intention of paying, while of course they are still happy to take the sales traffic from their affiliates. There is no reason why they should be taking their affiliate sales if they cannot afford to pay out their commissions. An apparently I am not the only one who believes them to be scammers in the real food world. I highly discourage doing any business with them.

I will be starting a 21 raw food cleanse tomorrow, also known as The Garden Diet 21 Day Cleanse. It is a big day for me, and I am excited as well as a little apprehensive.

I am generally pretty healthy, and this won’t be my first experience with raw foods or raw eating, but it will be the first time I am attempting to be 100% raw for 3 full weeks. In the past I did a month raw, but allowed for 1 or 2 cheat meals per week, which were anything from cooked veggies to a free range beef burger. I also cheated with a few beers and glasses of wine. This time will be different because I am attempting to not cheat at all — no alcohol, no coffee, and nothing even cooked at all. Just fruits, vegetables and raw nuts.

My main goal in doing this is actually to support my girlfriend who really has been wanting to do this, however I really want to see if being 100% raw will have a major impact on my life. Last time I was “raw” I definitely noticed more energy and clearer and more vibrant skin, this time I am hoping to even go beyond that. I am hoping to clear my head a bit, get more internal creativity flowing, and to re-kickstart my running and working out. It seems that the more I stray from an optimal diet, the more I lose track of my goals and the more in a rut I start feeling.

The other different thing about this time is that we will be following a regimented diet and menu plan which has been created by Jinjee and the Garden Diet 21 Day Cleanse. The program cost $97, and it provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus as well as shopping lists, which is really nice.

So, without further ado, wish me luck!

  4. I believe that avoiding refined foods would be the first step to help lose weight. They will often taste excellent, but refined foods have very little nutritional value, making you feed on more to have enough vitality to get with the day. If you’re constantly having these foods, switching to grain and other complex carbohydrates will assist you to have more power while feeding on less. Great blog post.
